US launches Large-Scale Strike’ on Venezuela, Captures President Maduro

If the reports are true that US Delta Force entered the Venezuelan capital and successfully seized both the sitting president and his wife, we are witnessing a historical event without modern precedent.
The most direct historical parallel is the 1989 apprehension of Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega by American special operations.
Both situations involved leaders who asserted victory in contested elections, faced American allegations of narcotics trafficking, and were targeted following a notable increase in US military presence in the region.
However, the circumstances differ significantly in their execution. Noriega’s arrest occurred only after a brief but high-intensity conflict that saw Panama’s military forces rapidly defeated. Following the invasion, Noriega sought asylum within the Vatican embassy for over a week. He finally surrendered after being subjected to a psychological operations campaign that involved blasting loud rock music from artists like Van Halen and The Clash.
While Noriega was eventually transported to the United States and found guilty of drug-related crimes, the specific mechanics of the mission to capture Nicolás Maduro remain unknown.
This current operation appears far more daring, as it reportedly managed to extract a head of state and his spouse from a hostile capital without the support of a full-scale conventional invasion.
Although his exact whereabouts remain a mystery, it is highly probable he will eventually face trial and incarceration within the American judicial system.
