Shariff Umar is Lead Coordinator of North East Suicide Bombing

In a significant advancement for counter-terrorism efforts, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has identified Shariff Umar as the primary mastermind behind recent suicide bombings and attempted strikes across the North East.
The breakthrough resulted from intelligence-driven cordon-and-search missions in the Kalmari district of Maiduguri on December 31, 2025.
These operations led to the arrest of 14 individuals linked to bombing activities, and subsequent investigations have since mapped out the cell’s internal structure and operational methods.
During questioning, Ibrahim Muhammad, a suspected bomber in custody, positively identified Shariff Umar (alias “Yusuf”) as the network’s leader. Corroborated evidence indicates that Umar was responsible for the recruitment, training, and deployment of bombers, as well as managing the logistics and distribution of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials.
Further findings link Umar directly to the December 24, 2025, attack on the Gamboru Market Mosque, where his associate, Adamu, detonated an explosive vest.
He has also been identified as the coordinator of a prevented bombing in Damaturu, having personally delivered IED components to the intended attacker in Maiduguri.
The investigation has also uncovered domestic support within the network, involving Umar’s wife, Yagana Modu. Additionally, his stepdaughter, Amina, confirmed seeing the suspected bomber at their home. These details highlight how terrorist facilitators use residential and community ties to remain hidden.
All individuals involved are currently being held for rigorous, multi-level interrogation. The objective is to completely dissolve the network, track down remaining accomplices, and seize any undiscovered explosives or equipment.
OPHK emphasizes that this achievement demonstrates the vital role of civilian-military cooperation. Terrorist cells frequently rely on community silence or fear to operate; however, proactive reporting from the public is a crucial asset in neutralizing threats and protecting lives.
Residents are strongly encouraged to stay alert and notify security forces of any suspicious individuals or behavior. Maintaining a high level of trust and cooperation between the military and the public is vital to eradicating terrorism and ensuring regional stability.
