Pro-Fubara Rivers State PDP Chairman Joins Wike

In a major political shift in Rivers State, Dr. Robinson Nname Ewor, the factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) previously loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has officially collapsed his entire structure into the camp of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
During a “thank-you” visit by Wike to the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Ewor formally handed over the leadership of his faction to Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka, Wike’s key ally and recognized state chairman.
This move effectively ends the factionalization of the state’s PDP, centralizing the party’s machinery under Wike’s influence and stripping the Governor of his primary institutional support.
Ewor’s defection was accompanied by a blunt critique of Governor Fubara’s leadership and political integrity.
He alleged that the Governor had misled his supporters by claiming he could defeat Wike’s political structure while secretly preparing to leave the party.
Ewor expressed deep frustration over the Governor’s actions, describing them as a betrayal of those who stood by him during the state’s prolonged crisis.
Furthermore, Ewor claimed that Fubara had failed to honor multiple peace agreements brokered by President Bola Tinubu.
He concluded that the Governor could no longer be trusted to lead the political family, citing a lack of consistency in his decision-making and a failure to protect the interests of those who fought for his administration.
This consolidation of power by the Wike camp creates a difficult path forward for Governor Fubara, who now finds himself navigating a new political landscape without the grassroots PDP structure he once commanded.
By reuniting the PDP under a single leadership loyal to the FCT Minister, Ewor and other defectors have significantly strengthened Wike’s hand in the ongoing power struggle.
