‎Nigerian Army Neutralises 47 Terrorists in Nationwide Offensive

‎ In a major surge of military activity spanning the last 72 hours, the Nigerian Army has executed a series of high-impact nationwide offensives that resulted in the neutralization of 47 terrorists and the arrest of 19 criminal suspects.

These synchronized land and air maneuvers were designed to aggressively dismantle the infrastructure of bandits, kidnappers, and insurgents across several geopolitical zones.

Beyond the high casualty count among the militants, the operations led to the successful rescue of more than 30 kidnapped individuals and the seizure of a substantial stockpile of weaponry, communication gear, and logistical supplies.

This sustained pressure reflects the military’s broader strategy of using precision strikes and intelligence-led ground movements to restore order and protect national security.

‎The North West and North Central regions witnessed some of the most intense ground engagements, specifically targeting the Lakurawa group and other armed factions.

In Sokoto State, military personnel stationed at forward operating bases in Binji and Tangaza Local Government Areas utilized credible intelligence to stage successful ambushes, killing three Lakurawa fighters and seizing AK-47 rifles alongside motorcycles and mobile phones.

A similar encounter occurred in Munya, Niger State, where troops engaged terrorists traveling on motorcycles, resulting in one fatality and the recovery of essential combat equipment.

Further operations in Zamfara State saw troops clearing hideouts in Anka and Maru, where they killed two insurgents and provided emergency medical care to wounded civilians rescued from captivity.

In Kaduna and Plateau states, the army focused on thwarting robbery and kidnapping rings, leading to the arrest of several cattle rustlers and the recovery of fabricated firearms and stolen livestock.

‎Economic and internal security operations were simultaneously prioritized in the South-South and South-East zones to combat sabotage and violent crime.

In Rivers State, troops intervened in illegal activities along the Cawthorne Channel in Degema, apprehending two individuals and confiscating tools meant for sabotaging national assets.

Meanwhile, in Delta State, the military intercepted two wooden vessels carrying approximately 1,700 liters of stolen crude oil, dealing a direct blow to the networks involved in oil theft.

Security efforts in the South-East led to the arrest of a suspect in Imo State connected to a civilian shooting, who was subsequently transferred to the police for prosecution.

Even the Federal Capital Territory was not left out, as an anti-illegal mining raid in Gwagwalada resulted in the detention of 11 suspects and the seizure of petroleum products and transport vehicles.

‎The air component of the military played a decisive role in the North East, launching devastating precision strikes against confirmed ISWAP and JAS logistics hubs in Borno State.

These aerial bombardments neutralized at least 42 terrorists, with observers noting secondary explosions that signaled the destruction of hidden weapon caches and explosive materials.

These strikes effectively crippled the command and control structures of the groups in the area.

Throughout these various theaters, the safe evacuation of over 30 women and children from kidnapping dens remained a high priority. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has reaffirmed that the army will continue to prioritize a joint, people-centric approach to security, maintaining that the cooperation of the public is essential for achieving a durable peace across Nigeria.
