PDP Omitted as INEC Publishes Ekiti Governorship Candidates.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the official publication of the verified list of contestants approved to participate in the Ekiti State gubernatorial race scheduled for June 20, 2026.
At its state head office located in Ado-Ekiti, the electoral umpire presented the roster on Monday, which highlights the governorship aspirants and their respective deputy candidates representing 12 different political organizations.
Among the individuals cleared for the ballot are Opeyemi Falegan running under the Accord Party (AP), Akande Oluwasegun representing the African Action Congress (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), and Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The list also features Biodun Oyebanji as the flagbearer for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bidemi Awogbemi of the Action People’s Party (APP), Joseph Anifowose of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), and Oyebanji Olajuyin representing the Labour Party (LP).
Furthermore, the document includes Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Olaniyi Ayodele of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Owoola Daramola of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), and Victor Adetunji of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Notably absent from the released document was Wole Oluyede, who is the gubernatorial choice for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Oluyede, who practices as a medical doctor, had secured the PDP ticket back in November during a primary where he garnered 279 votes, successfully edging out Funso Ayeni, who recorded 239 votes.
That internal party election was conducted by the national working committee faction associated with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and received the backing of Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
