‎Afrobeats Star Reemerges as Tech Entrepreneur

‎Afrobeats Star Reemerges as Tech Entrepreneur.

‎Taiwo Akintoye, once known as one half of the early-2000s hit-making duo Twin-X, is making headlines once again—this time as a technology entrepreneur and product strategist.

The former afrobeats artist, who rose to fame with the song, Mother Mi, has quietly transitioned from music to technology, building a growing reputation in African-focused tech and product development.

‎After stepping away from mainstream music, Akintoye focused on formal education and business training.

He earned a Bsc in Economics, an MBA in Marketing Management, and advanced certifications in project and programme management.

His professional career spans management consulting, business development, and brand strategy across sectors including media, telecoms, tourism, oil and gas, FMCG, and ICT in Nigeria, the U.S., and Europe.

‎He has also worked with early-stage African tech teams, providing guidance on go-to-market strategy, product positioning, and market penetration, with particular focus on media-tech, agritech, and telecom sectors.

‎In recent years, Akintoye has expanded into AI-enabled solutions and low-code platforms, co-founding and leading business development and product strategy at GP Technologies, a European AI SaaS start-up.

He also leads O’range Development, a venture focused on product development, innovation advisory, and creative-tech initiatives.

‎Speaking on his approach, Akintoye emphasised the importance of designing products with African realities in mind. “Africa is not a monolith. Products need to be built for real markets, with pragmatic and inclusive solutions that address everyday challenges,” he said.
