Borno State University Confirms NELFUND Loan Payment for 226 Students

Borno State University, Maiduguri, has confirmed receiving funds from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the payment of institutional loans to its students.

The confirmation was contained in an official letter issued by the university’s Vice-Chancellor on November 20, 2025.

According to the letter, the university received a total of ₦18,676,600 and an additional ₦78,300 as loan disbursement for students under the national Students Loan Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The funds covered payments for 226 students across different batches.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, explained that the payment included the fourth batch of 225 students and one student in the fifth batch.

He acknowledged the receipt of the funds on behalf of the institution.

The university also requested detailed payment advice from NELFUND including the bank account details of the beneficiaries to enable it begin the refund and reconciliation process where necessary.

The letter was addressed to the Managing Director of NELFUND in Abuja and reaffirmed the university’s appreciation for the support provided through the student loan scheme.
