Tinubu Worships at Lekki Mosque as Imam Calls for Unity, Steadfast Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday observed Jumat prayers with Muslim faithful at the Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos, where prayers were offered for the success of his administration.
The visiting Imam, Dr Salahudeen Arriyadhi, used the sermon to encourage the President to remain focused on governance despite public criticism, noting that leadership often comes with differing opinions.
He commended the Tinubu-led government for ongoing development efforts across the country.
Addressing the congregation, the cleric reminded the President that it is impossible to please everyone at the same time. “You cannot satisfy everyone at the same time,” Dr Arriyadhi said, while urging leaders to listen to the needs of the people they serve.
Quoting from the Quran, he added that Allah rewards leaders who respond to the cries of their followers but frowns at those who ignore them.
He assured the President of continued prayers, saying, “We are praying for you, and you will succeed.”
In his sermon, themed Unity in Diversity and Remembering the Day of Judgement, the Imam stressed that differences among people such as tribe, language, religion, and nationality, are part of God’s design.
According to him, diversity should not be seen as a reason for division but as an opportunity for peaceful coexistence and mutual learning. He described diversity as a reflection of Allah’s wisdom and urged Nigerians to embrace it as a basis for unity rather than conflict.
President Tinubu attended the prayers alongside his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
They were received at the mosque by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, as well as members of the mosque’s management team.
The President has been in Lagos since December 20, where he is spending the end-of-year festive period in the nation’s commercial hub.
