President Tinubu Arrives Lagos for End-of-Year Break After Visits to Borno, Bauchi
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Lagos State to begin his end-of-year holiday, following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states earlier this week.
His arrival at Murtala Muhammed International Airport was met with a warm reception from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials, and leaders of the ruling party.
The President’s northern tour began in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he commissioned several development projects in collaboration with state and federal authorities. During the visit, he also attended the wedding ceremony of Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former Borno Governor and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, highlighting his engagement with social and community events alongside official duties.
From Borno, Tinubu traveled to Bauchi State to pay a condolence visit to the state government and the family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, a prominent Islamic scholar and Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood leader who passed away in November. His visit underscored the administration’s commitment to supporting communities during periods of mourning and loss.
Following his engagements in the north, the President returned to Lagos to participate in festive activities and cultural events. Among the highlights is the annual Eyo Festival at Tafawa Balewa Square, scheduled for December 27, where Tinubu is expected to serve as a guest of honour.
The festival will celebrate prominent Lagos personalities, including his late mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, and former Lagos governors Lateef Jakande and Michael Otedola.
The three-state journey reflects a mix of official duties, social engagement, and cultural participation, reinforcing the President’s presence across different regions of the country ahead of the festive season. Officials noted that the visit also allows the President to engage with citizens, support local initiatives, and ensure continuity in project oversight before the holiday period.
As Lagos hosts the President during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, his presence is expected to feature prominently in festivities, cultural events, and public engagements, demonstrating the administration’s ongoing connection with citizens beyond the capital.
