Morocco’s Tourism Sector Generates $11.3 Billion in First 10 Months of 2025
Morocco’s tourism industry has recorded a historic performance in 2025, generating approximately $11.3 billion in revenue from tourism in the first 10 months of the year.
This figure surpasses the total earnings for the entire 2024 calendar year, highlighting the sector’s rapid growth and its expanding role in the Moroccan economy.
Officials reported that Morocco welcomed 16.6 million visitors by the end of October 2025, marking a significant increase compared with the same period last year.
The rise in revenue is attributed not only to the growing number of tourists but also to higher spending per visitor, driven by a diverse array of tourism offerings, including cultural, leisure, adventure, and business travel.
Tourism Minister Fatim‑Zahra Ammor described the milestone as a “historic achievement,” emphasizing that Morocco’s growing global appeal as a travel destination and effective promotion strategies were key factors in the sector’s success.
The government has also invested in expanding hotel capacity and tourism infrastructure, with tens of thousands of new rooms and upgraded service facilities across major cities and emerging destinations.
Major urban centres like Marrakech, Fez, and Casablanca, along with Morocco’s coastal resorts and desert landscapes, have remained central to attracting international travelers.
Events, cultural festivals, and heritage sites have further contributed to drawing tourists and encouraging longer stays, boosting overall economic benefits.
The tourism boom comes amid broader economic growth for Morocco, with the economy projected to expand by around 5 percent in 2025, supported by investments in infrastructure, exports, and services.
Authorities have emphasized tourism as a key driver of foreign exchange, job creation, and local economic development, positioning the sector as a strategic pillar for sustained national growth.
Analysts say the strong performance not only reflects Morocco’s successful tourism policies but also signals its ambition to cement its status as one of Africa’s leading tourist destinations, with plans to further diversify offerings and enhance visitor experiences in the coming years.
The continued growth of Morocco’s tourism industry underscores its vital role in boosting economic activity, supporting livelihoods, and enhancing the country’s global profile as a premier travel destination.
