APC Recognises Fubara as Party Leader in Rivers — Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Nentawe Yilwatda, has affirmed the party’s recognition of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the leader of the APC in the state.

Yilwatda made this known while addressing party stakeholders, stating that he had directed the APC State Chairman in Rivers, Mr Tony Okocha, to issue Governor Fubara the party’s “001” membership number, in line with the party’s established tradition.

According to the APC chairman, it is the standing order of the party that all serving governors elected on its platform automatically assume the position of party leader in their respective states.

“I instructed my State Chairman in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, to issue 001 membership to Governor Fubara. This is the standing order of our great party; all state governors are the leaders of our party in their states,” Yilwatda said.

He stressed that Governor Fubara is now fully recognised as the APC leader in Rivers State, describing the move as a reflection of the party’s progressive values and commitment to unity.

“Fubara is the leader of our party in Rivers State. We are progressives. I will work with Fubara,” he added.

Yilwatda’s declaration is expected to have significant political implications in Rivers State, particularly amid ongoing realignments within the state’s political landscape.

The development signals the APC national leadership’s resolve to strengthen party cohesion and ensure smooth collaboration between elected officials and party structures at the state level.
