Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas Registers as APC Member, Set to Lead Party in State
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his ward level, marking the completion of his official entry into the ruling party.
The registration, which took place on Sunday at the exco chamber of the Government House in Jalingo, positions Governor Kefas as the leader of the APC in Taraba State, in line with party tradition and political convention.
The historic registration follows weeks of public signals from Kefas indicating his intention to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC.
Political observers say that, by party convention, a sitting governor who joins a new party assumes leadership of that party in the state, giving Kefas significant influence over APC activities and decisions in Taraba.
Supporters of the APC in the state have welcomed Kefas’s registration, describing it as a boost for the party ahead of upcoming political events, while critics from the PDP have warned that such defections are often motivated by political expediency rather than policy considerations
The move also sets the stage for a formal public reception of Governor Kefas by the APC in Taraba State, which party officials have indicated will take place in the near future.
This registration consolidates Kefas’s political realignment and marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape.
