Kabba/Bunu LG Orders Closure of Markets in Kiri Axis Over Security Concerns

The Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State has ordered the immediate closure of Iluke, Offere, Suku and all other markets within the Kiri Axis following a security assessment of the area.

The directive, announced on Sunday, is part of precautionary measures aimed at preventing a breakdown of law and order amid emerging security concerns in the axis.

According to the local government, security agencies have been placed on red alert and have been directed to enforce full compliance with the market closure order.

Residents of the affected communities have been urged to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with security operatives as efforts are intensified to safeguard lives and property.

While details of the specific threats were not disclosed, sources said the decision was taken after consultations with security agencies and community stakeholders.

The local government assured residents that the measure is temporary and intended to allow security forces to stabilise the situation and prevent potential threats.

Members of the public were also advised to report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security agency.

The development comes amid heightened security measures in parts of Kogi State, as authorities work to curb criminal activities and maintain peace across communities.
