Jonathan Mourns Bayelsa Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo, Describes Him as Patriot
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed shock over the death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing him as a true patriot and a devoted public servant who served with distinction.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said the late Ewhrudjakpo was a loyal steward of Bayelsa State and Nigeria, noting that his years in public service were marked by unwavering commitment and diligence.
According to the former president, Ewhrudjakpo earned widespread respect for his passion for service, strong work ethic and dedication to the development of Bayelsa State.
“He was a devoted public servant, a true patriot, and a loyal steward of Bayelsa and Nigeria,” Jonathan said.
Jonathan recalled Ewhrudjakpo’s contributions across various levels of public office, highlighting his depth of knowledge, eloquence and personal warmth.
“From his service as commissioner, to the Senate, and later as deputy governor, Ewhrudjakpo was known for his depth, insightful grasp of governance, eloquence, and warm sense of humour,” he stated.
The former president described the deputy governor’s death as a major loss to the Bayelsa State Government, the people of the state, his family and colleagues who worked closely with him over the years.
“Senator Ewhrudjakpo will be remembered for his forthrightness, dedication to duty, and steadfast commitment to the development of Bayelsa,” Jonathan added.
He extended his condolences to the Ewhrudjakpo family and the Bayelsa State Government, urging them to find comfort in the legacy of service and impact the late deputy governor left behind in his devotion to the people.
