Lai Mohammed Reaffirms Loyalty to Tinubu

Former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Lai Mohammed, has restated his unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that his political loyalty remains firm despite his reduced presence on the national stage.

Mohammed made the remarks while delivering the 15th convocation lecture of Achievers University, Owo, where he addressed graduating students, academics, and invited dignitaries.

The former minister noted that after many years at the forefront of political communication and governance, he had intentionally stepped back from public-facing roles to contribute through quieter, strategic engagement.

According to him, his long service in government—spanning eight years as minister—has equipped him with a depth of experience that he now intends to channel toward advisory functions and discreet party support

He explained that while he no longer appears regularly in the media spotlight, he continues to contribute through internal structures and what he described as “back-channel engagements.”

Mohammed used the lecture to highlight the value of mentorship, stressing that one of his major priorities going forward is grooming young Nigerians for leadership. He encouraged the graduating class to embrace integrity, innovation, and resilience as they transition into the wider world, noting that the country’s future depends heavily on a generation capable of blending knowledge with practical skill.

Achievers University marked its 15th convocation with the graduation of hundreds of students across various disciplines. The ceremony also showcased the university’s growing academic profile, including strong performances in professional programmes and an increasing number of first-class graduates. Administrators described the convocation lecture as an important avenue for exposing young people to national issues, personal development insights, and global opportunities.

Mohammed’s appearance and message drew positive reactions from attendees, many of whom praised the emphasis on mentorship and capacity-building. His remarks also sparked discussion about the evolving roles of senior political figures who, after leaving office, continue to shape governance through advisory influence rather than direct participation.

With his latest public engagement, the former minister signaled both his continued loyalty to the ruling party and his intention to help nurture the next generation of Nigerian leaders.
