Kwara Police Intercept Illegal Firearms, Arrest Four Suspects in Jebba

The Kwara State Police Command has intercepted a cache of illegal firearms and arrested four suspects during a routine stop-and-search operation along Sabongida Road in Jebba.

The operation, carried out on 11 December 2025 at about 08:45 hours by officers from the Jebba Division, led to the arrest of Musa Mohammed and Musa Abdullahi, both residents of Saorami in Masegun Local Government Area of Niger State.

Police sources said the two men were caught with six locally made AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, four cartridges, and one expended AK-47 round, all concealed inside a bag. The items were discovered after officers flagged down the suspects’ vehicle for a routine search.

Further interrogation revealed that the firearms were being transported for delivery to two other individuals identified as Mohammad Umoru and Magin Isah, both residents of Shonga in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The Police later apprehended the duo in a coordinated follow-up operation.

All four suspects have been transferred to the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) operatives on special assignment in Kwara State for deeper investigation into the source of the weapons and the intended recipients.

The Kwara State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and enhance public safety across the state.
