Sokoto Govt Commends Troops for Foiling Bandit Ambush on Traders

The Sokoto State Government has applauded the Nigerian Armed Forces for successfully preventing a bandit ambush targeting traders in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), said the armed attackers attempted to ambush traders travelling from Tarah village to the weekly market in Sabon Birni on Sunday. He noted that troops deployed to the area immediately engaged the bandits, thwarting the plot and restoring safety along the route.

Usman described the troops’ intervention as timely, decisive, and professionally executed, stressing that the swift action prevented what could have resulted in a major tragedy.

“The swift response, professionalism, and courage displayed by our military personnel once again reaffirm their commitment to protecting the lives and property of our people,” he said.

The Special Adviser further assured residents that the state government would continue to strengthen security collaboration with the military and other law enforcement agencies to ensure sustained peace in vulnerable communities.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing timely information that could help prevent future attacks.
