Edo Governor Replaces Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary with Patrick Ebojele
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has relieved Fred Itua of his duties as Chief Press Secretary (CPS), marking a major shake-up in the administration’s communication team.
The decision, announced on Friday through a statement issued by Secretary to the State Government Musa Ikhilor, takes immediate effect.
According to the government’s announcement, Itua is expected to await further directives regarding reassignment, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure as the governor’s principal media aide.
The statement, however, expressed the administration’s gratitude for his service so far.
In the same breath, the governor approved the appointment of Patrick Ebojele Akhere as the new Chief Press Secretary.
Ebojele, a seasoned journalist and academic with extensive experience in public administration and research, is expected to strengthen the government’s media relations and sharpen its public communication strategy.
The state government described Ebojele’s appointment as part of a broader effort to deepen engagement with the public and enhance transparency in the dissemination of policies, programmes, and activities.
Officials say the new CPS brings a combination of professional depth and institutional understanding that aligns with the administration’s communication priorities.
The move signals a strategic recalibration within the Okpebholo government, coming at a time when observers say effective media management is becoming increasingly vital to governance in the state. As Ebojele assumes his role, attention will turn to how the reshuffle shapes the government’s public messaging and its interaction with citizens in the coming months.
