Nigerian billionaire and founder of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, has continued to make a bold mark in the country’s hospitality sector with his ownership of the luxurious Lagos Marriott Hotel, a top-tier 5-star facility located in the prestigious GRA area of Ikeja.
The hotel, operated under Mac-Folly Hospitality Limited, a subsidiary of SIFAX Group, is managed by Marriott International and stands today as one of Nigeria’s most sophisticated hospitality establishments.
SIFAX Group, founded by Afolabi in 1988, has grown from a modest freight forwarding outfit into a vast conglomerate with interests spanning maritime, aviation, logistics, oil and gas, and hospitality. The company today ranks among West Africa’s most influential integrated service providers.
Completed in May 2021, the Lagos Marriott Hotel sits on 7,000 square meters of land and boasts 251 rooms spread across seven floors.
The architectural design was executed by G1 Architecture, while construction was handled by Dori Construction and Engineering, ensuring a blend of modern luxury and high structural standards.
The hotel has gained attention not only for its premium services but also for its pricing. Reports show that room rates range from approximately N583,635 ($378) for standard rooms to N3.9 million ($2,539) for the exclusive Presidential Suite, reflecting its luxury positioning in the heart of Lagos.
