I’ll Transform Unstable Zones Into Hubs of Economic Activity, Assures Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to turn Nigeria’s unstable zones into vibrant centres of economic growth, emphasizing that security and development are intertwined.

The President made the declaration on December 2, 2025, during the launch of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Appeal Emblem at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu outlined his administration’s plan to reclaim areas plagued by insurgency, banditry, and general insecurity, describing these “ungoverned spaces” as fertile grounds for economic transformation once stability is restored. He revealed that retired military personnel would be deployed to strengthen security and restore government presence in vulnerable communities. "Our goal is to convert regions that have long suffered from insecurity into hubs of economic activity, creating opportunities for investment, job creation, and sustainable development,” Tinubu said The President’s vision forms part of a broader strategy that links security, governance, and economic revitalization. His administration has been pushing for infrastructure development, urban planning, and industrialization, particularly in underdeveloped and marginalized regions, as part of efforts to stimulate inclusive national growth. Tinubu has also taken steps to address insecurity nationwide, including declaring a security emergency and ordering mass recruitment of police and military personnel. Analysts note that the success of the plan will depend not only on security measures but also on sustained investments in infrastructure, agriculture, and local industries The President’s pledge underscores the administration’s commitment to transforming Nigeria’s most vulnerable regions, providing hope for communities long affected by violence and economic stagnation.
