Terrorists Kill Former Councillor, Abduct His Two Sons in Adamawa Governor Fintiri’s Home Village

Terror returned to Kirchinga, the home village of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as terrorists launched a late-night attack on Monday, killing a former councillor and abducting his two sons.

The attackers stormed Kirchinga community in Madagali Local Government Area around midnight, shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.

The invasion left Hon. Thlama Sini, a former councillor representing Kirchinga Ward, dead. His two sons were taken away by the gunmen.

Residents said the incident has deepened fear in the community, which has endured repeated assaults from armed groups in recent years. “People hardly sleep with both eyes closed.

These attacks happen without warning,” a resident told reporters, adding that families are now living in heightened anxiety.

Local sources said the terrorists operated for several hours without immediate resistance due to the area’s limited security presence.

The killing of Sini a known grassroots political figure and the abduction of his children have sparked anger among locals, who are calling for urgent security reinforcement.

Community leaders urged the state and federal governments to prioritise the protection of border communities, which have become frequent targets of insurgent activities.

Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the incident, but residents say search efforts are underway to locate the abducted boys.

Kirchinga and surrounding areas have witnessed intermittent terrorist attacks over the years due to their proximity to the Sambisa Forest axis and porous border routes used by armed groups.
