Police Foil Bandits’ Attack in Kebbi, Recover 141 Livestock

The Nigeria Police Force has announced a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in Kebbi State after personnel of the No. 36 Squadron of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Birnin Kebbi, successfully repelled an attack on Zodi Village in Zuru Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the incident occurred on 29 November 2025 when a large group of armed bandits stormed the community and rustled an unspecified number of livestock.

Kotarkoshi said police operatives were immediately deployed to the scene and engaged the attackers in fierce gunfire, forcing them to retreat.

“The operatives confronted the bandits in a sustained exchange of fire. Many of the assailants were neutralised, while others escaped into the forest with serious gunshot injuries,” the statement said.

Following the retreat of the attackers, officers conducted a search of the surrounding area, leading to the recovery of two motorcycles, 96 cows, and 45 sheep believed to have been stolen during the invasion.

The police confirmed that the recovered livestock were handed over to the village head of Zodi for documentation and eventual return to their rightful owners.

The motorcycles were transferred to the Divisional Police Officer in Zuru for further investigation and identification of the owners.

The Kebbi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to sustaining the momentum against criminal gangs across the state, assuring residents that intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations would continue.
