Kebbi Governor Hails Tinubu as 24 Abducted Schoolgirls are Freed

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the swift federal action credited with securing the release of the 24 schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

Idris made the remarks on Tuesday night during an emergency media briefing at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi after security operatives confirmed that the students had been safely recovered.

According to the governor, all the girls were rescued without injuries and were being transported to the state capital for medical checks and documentation.

He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for what he called the President’s steadfast attention to the incident and the immediate orders issued to security agencies in the aftermath of the abduction.

“Since the unfortunate incident, Mr President has shown deep concern and remained committed to ensuring their safe return,” he noted.

Governor Idris also commended the armed forces, police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other operatives for executing a well-coordinated rescue mission.

He stated that families of the freed students were already en route to Birnin Kebbi for an official presentation expected to take place on Wednesday.

Idris further appreciated religious leaders, local residents and Nigerians across the country who offered prayers and support throughout the period the girls were missing.
