Soludo Presents N757 Billion 2026 Budget for Approval
Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has presented a budget of N757 billion for 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly on Tuesday for approval.
The governor tagged the proposed budget “Charging Gears 3.0: Solution Continues” to reflect his plan to execute intensified transformative projects across the state.
Soludo explained that capital expenditure would take up ₦595.3 billion, representing 79 per cent of the entire budget.
He added that the government set aside ₦161.6 billion for recurrent spending, which accounts for the remaining 21 per cent.
The governor also noted that the budget carries a ₦225.7 billion deficit, which the state plans to cover through a mix of hybrid financing, public–private partnerships, stronger internally generated revenue, concessions and support from financial institutions.
“I present to you the proposed 2026 budget, totalling N757,884,487,705. Compared to the 2025 budget of N606.99 billion, this represents a 24.1 per cent increase.
“We recorded over 60 per cent budget performance in 2025. Despite it being an election year, we remained focused and in execution mode.
“The 2026 budget framework is designed to drive growth across all sectors. We remain committed to responsible fiscal management, with no borrowing for consumption.
“I want to assure you that every kobo will be prudently utilised to maximise value for the people of Anambra and we will continue to lay the foundation for the prosperous, liveable and smart homeland we envisioned,” he said.
The Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, praised the Governor for the major transformation projects currently underway across the state as he received the proposed budget.
He also assured the Governor that lawmakers would review the draft budget quickly and thoroughly.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the proposed budget of ₦757 billion is ₦151 billion higher than the previous ₦606 billion budget, representing a 24.1 per cent increase.
