BAT Ideological Group Praises Tinubu’s Hands-On Security Leadership
The BAT Ideological Group commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his security interventions following the abduction of 38 worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and the rescue of 50 Catholic schoolgirls kidnapped in Niger State.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group describes the President’s actions as “a rare demonstration of responsible and responsive leadership at a time the nation is confronted with escalating security threats.”
The group urges President Tinubu to adopt additional community-based security strategies to complement ongoing military and police operations. They call on the president to direct Local Government Chairmen to immediately begin the recruitment of community indigenes who will be trained by the military to serve as forest guards in their respective locality.
Acknowledging that such training takes time, the group appeals to the President to deploy soldiers and police officers who hail from the affected communities. According to them, such personnel possess deep knowledge of the local terrain, making them more effective in responding to bandit attacks than officers unfamiliar with the environment.
The BAT Ideological Group also applauds the President’s decision to withdraw police officers from VIP security duties and replacing them with NSCDC personnel, allowing police operatives to return to their core responsibilities of protecting communities. They describe the move as “a welcomed development that prioritises national security over personal privileges.”
Highlighting the President’s recent choices, the group praises Tinubu for suspending his planned attendance at the G20 Leaders’ Summit and the EU–Africa Summit in Angola to focus on the security crisis at home. They say the President demonstrates “the qualities of a true shepherd who does not abandon his flock in dangerous times.” According to the statement, other leaders would continue with their trips despite domestic insecurity, but Tinubu chooses to stay back and coordinate rescue operations.
The group further commends the President for his “round-the-clock involvement” in efforts to secure the release of the abducted victims and stabilise the affected communities. They express confidence that the ongoing operations lead to more breakthroughs.
“We pray for the President to succeed,” the group says, adding that the administration’s actions give Nigerians renewed hope that the fight against banditry and kidnapping will be won. They reaffirm their support for the Federal Government’s security strategies and call on community leaders, state governments, and citizens to work closely with the security agencies to ensure lasting peace.
The Convener concluded by saying that Nigeria will succeed, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will succeed and Nigeria enemies will be disgraced.
