Terrorist Commander Threatens to Kidnap President Tinubu, Governors, Security Forces After Kebbi, Niger Abductions
A man claiming to be a terrorist commander has issued fresh threats against Nigeria’s top political and military leaders, declaring that his group intends to abduct military officers, state governors, and even President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming days.
The militant, whose identity remains unconfirmed, made the declaration in a video obtained by SaharaReporters.
In the footage, he appears dressed in what looks like a Nigerian military jacket while boasting about recent mass abductions of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger states.
According to him, security operations and arrests carried out by Nigerian authorities have had no impact on the group’s activities.
He accused the federal government of failing to protect citizens, warning that the group’s attacks would escalate.
“Everyone has woken up. We kidnapped school students in Kebbi State and Niger State. Next time, we will be kidnapping Nigerian military officers and taking them to the forest,” he said.
Pointing to the jacket he wore, he added:
“Look at the clothes I’m wearing they belong to a soldier. Nigeria, in the days ahead, we will kidnap a governor, we will kidnap the President, and others.”
He went on to tell Nigerians to rely on divine protection rather than government security, insisting that authorities were unable to safeguard the population.
“We are not concerned that they have arrested anyone. The government cannot secure you. You people should return to God,” he said, before ending the video with a greeting to his supporters on social media.
The threat comes amid a fresh wave of attacks targeting schools in northern Nigeria. On November 21, 2025, armed militants invaded St. Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, abducting an unspecified number of students and teachers.
Sources who visited the school shortly after the attack described the incident as a coordinated raid carried out between 2am and 3am.
The invasion was confirmed by Ahmed Abdullahi Rofia, Head of Disaster and Relief for Agwara LGA, as well as Bello Gidi, media aide to the Agwara Council Chairman.
Federal authorities have not issued an official statement addressing the new video or the threats made by the militant.
Security analysts note that such public declarations often aim to instill fear and demonstrate defiance amid ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
