Tinubu in Crucial Security Session With Top Service Chiefs at State House
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday entered a prolonged closed-door security meeting at the Presidential Villa with key members of Nigeria’s security leadership, amid escalating nationwide security concerns.
The briefing, which lasted several hours, brought together senior figures including the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Inspector-General of Police, and Director-General of the Department of State Services.
According to information confirmed from publicly available reports, the Director-General of the DSS, Tosin Adeola Ajayi, was among those who met with the President to present an updated assessment of the country’s security landscape.
The Presidency described the discussion as a comprehensive review of current threats and the government’s responses to them, though details of the deliberations were not disclosed.
The high-level engagement came against the backdrop of heightened insecurity across several regions, including a fresh wave of mass abductions and violent attacks. Recent incidents, such as the kidnapping of more than 300 students from a Catholic school in Niger State, have amplified public pressure on the government to reinforce national security efforts.
Saturday’s meeting fits into a broader pattern of intensified consultations between the President and the heads of Nigeria’s security agencies. Similar briefings have taken place in recent weeks as the administration seeks to recalibrate strategies and strengthen coordination within the nation’s security architecture.
Although the Presidency has not released the outcomes of the latest session, the extended duration signals the gravity of the issues under review. Citizens and stakeholders now await further updates on any new directives or measures that may emerge from the deliberations.
