8,000 FCTA Civil Servants Set for CBT Promotional Examinations
More than 8,000 civil servants under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are scheduled to sit for their promotion examinations this week, following approval by the FCT Minister and the FCT Civil Service Commission.
The examination—which will be conducted using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system—marks the continuation of the administration’s push to modernize its civil service processes and conclude the pending 2024 promotion cycle. According to the FCT Civil Service Commission, the exams will run from Tuesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the National Open University (NOUN) ICT Centre, along Kubwa Road in Abuja. The exercise will draw participants from 165 different cadres across the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, said the CBT method is intended to improve transparency, reduce human interference and speed up result processing. He noted that the minister approved the promotion exercise to motivate workers and ensure timely completion of outstanding promotion cases. Ezeh added that the use of digital testing aligns with ongoing reforms in the FCTA aimed at strengthening efficiency, merit-based assessments and modernization of administrative procedures. Earlier in the year, the FCTA conducted similar CBT sessions that produced 49 new directors, reinforcing confidence in the system. The Commission also disclosed that several staff training sessions had been conducted to familiarize candidates with CBT procedures, minimizing the risk of technical difficulties during the exams. Officials assured that adequate logistics, supervision and security have been put in place to ensure a smooth five-day process. Candidates are expected to strictly adhere to their scheduled time slots to avoid congestion at the examination venue. Results of the CBT exams are expected to be processed digitally, with the Commission set to announce the dates for release subsequently. The FCTA’s adoption of digital promotion systems is seen by analysts as a step toward a more transparent and rewarding civil service structure, especially as the administration pushes to clear the 2024 promotion backlog.
