Nottingham Forest Stun Liverpool 3–0 at Anfield
Nottingham Forest delivered a stunning 3–0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, adding further pressure on the struggling champions and intensifying their faltering Premier League title defence.
Forest took the lead in the 33rd minute when Brazilian defender Murillo headed home from a corner.
The visitors doubled their advantage shortly after the break, with Nicolo Savona finishing calmly following a well-worked move.
Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the emphatic win 12 minutes from time, reacting quickest to convert after Alisson initially parried Omari Hutchinson’s effort.
The defeat marks Liverpool’s second consecutive 3–0 loss, and the second straight season in which Forest have left Anfield with all three points.
The Reds have now lost eight of their last 11 games in all competitions, including six of their last seven league matches, leaving them slipping dangerously in the standings.
Liverpool now sit 11th on the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal, despite spending more than £400 million during the summer transfer window.
Big-money signing Alexander Isak, who joined from Newcastle in a British-record deal, endured another frustrating outing and remains without a league goal for the club.
Manager Jürgen Klopp acknowledged on Friday that the squad continues to feel the emotional impact of the tragic death of teammate Diogo Jota, who passed away in a car crash in Spain in July.
That instability was once again evident as Liverpool produced a flat, uninspired display that left home supporters visibly frustrated.
Forest, meanwhile, showed discipline, organisation, and clinical finishing to secure one of their most memorable away victories in recent years. The win provides a significant boost to their campaign as they look to climb further up the table.
Liverpool will now face mounting scrutiny as they attempt to halt their alarming slide, with questions already emerging about their form, mentality, and the direction of their season.
