Lead Push for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, Cubana Chief Priest Urges Deputy Speaker, Kalu
Celebrity nightlife promoter, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has called on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, to mobilise South-East leaders in a collective push for the release of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Okechukwu made the appeal in a post on his X handle on Friday, warning that rising tensions and insecurity in the region demand urgent political intervention.
He argued that restoring peace in the South-East requires resolving Kanu’s continued detention.
“We need peace in the South-East. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has never been a terrorist and has never been a harmful man. He has only asked for good governance in our region,” he wrote.
He urged Kalu to convene a broad meeting of political, traditional, and cultural figures to take a unified position on the matter.
“Deputy Speaker Kanu, use your office to assemble South-East elites and secure his release. As far as I’m concerned, he is the best among every freedom fighter I have seen in my life,” he added.
The intervention comes after the Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced the IPOB leader to life imprisonment, a development that has triggered renewed calls for de-escalation and dialogue in the region.
