Court to Deliver Nnamdi Kanu Terrorism Judgment Today in Live Broadcast

The Federal High Court in Abuja will today deliver judgment in the terrorism case against Nnamdi Kanu, with the proceedings to be aired live nationwide.

A registrar of the court confirmed the arrangement on Thursday morning as crews from several television stations, including NTA, Channels Television, AIT and TVC, set up their equipment inside the courtroom ahead of the ruling.

Justice James Omotosho had scheduled the judgment for today after closing the defence on 7 November. The court took the decision when Kanu refused to open his defence, insisting he would not proceed under a law that had already been repealed.

Omotosho ruled that the defendant had been given six days to present his case but failed to use the opportunity, effectively waiving his right to do so. He added that the court would have granted an extension had Kanu agreed to begin his defence.

The judge held that Kanu could not allege denial of fair hearing after declining to take advantage of the time allocated to him.

The court is expected to sit later today for the highly anticipated judgment.
