Super Falcons Named CAF Women’s National Team of the Year at 2025 Awards
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been officially honored as the Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards, in recognition of their outstanding performance on the continental stage.
The award was presented on Wednesday, November 19, during the CAF Awards ceremony held at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
This recognition comes on the heels of the Super Falcons’ dramatic and dominant 2024 campaign, capped by their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. Under coach Justin Madugu, Nigeria rebounded from a 2–0 halftime deficit in the WAFCON final — mounting a compelling 3–2 comeback to win the trophy.
In addition to the team award, the Super Falcons received nods in individual categories.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade was nominated for Women’s Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was shortlisted for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, following another stellar season.
The CAF Award adds to a growing list of honors for Nigeria’s leading women’s national team, affirming their continued dominance in African football and their ability to deliver on big stages under pressure.
