Warri Strategic Forum Urges Senate to Proceed With Probe Into INEC Ward Delineation
The Central Working Committee of the Warri Strategic Forum has called on the Senate to remain resolute in its decision to investigate the ward delineation exercise recently carried out by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Professor Lucky Akaruese, and Secretary, Dr. Patrick Fregene, the group warned against what it described as deliberate attempts by some lawmakers to frustrate or weaken the planned probe.
It insisted that any move to derail the investigation should be ignored in the interest of fairness, accountability and the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
The Forum argued that the probe is crucial to ensuring that the delineation exercise was conducted transparently and in line with constitutional provisions.
It stressed that Nigerians deserve clarity on whether due process was followed and whether all communities were fairly represented in the new ward structure.
The group further urged Isoko leaders and stakeholders to take a second look at the issue and carefully assess its potential implications for peace, equity and regional stability.
According to the Forum, the matter goes beyond politics and touches on the broader need to preserve harmony and trust among the multi-ethnic groups in the region.
The Warri Strategic Forum reaffirmed its support for the Senate’s decision, noting that a credible investigation would restore public confidence and help strengthen the democratic process.
