Turaki Cites Security Concerns as PDP Moves Meeting to Wednesday
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has shifted a planned meeting at its national secretariat to Wednesday, following disturbances that interrupted preparations on Tuesday.
PDP National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, SAN, briefed reporters after the incident, saying the party had no option but to delay the session to maintain order and protect participants.
“In light of certain incidents triggered by individuals who stand against progress and against democratic values, we have decided to postpone this meeting till tomorrow,” Turaki said at the headquarters.
While he stopped short of giving full details, officials familiar with the matter said the disruption was “unexpected” and required immediate intervention from security teams stationed at the secretariat.
The chairman assured party members that the PDP leadership was taking necessary steps to prevent a repeat and would proceed with the agenda once calm was fully restored.
The rescheduled meeting will now hold on Wednesday in Abuja.
