Nile University Unveils Business School to Drive Skills-Based Learning

Nile University of Nigeria has unveiled its new Business School as part of a broader push to deepen skills-based learning, expand global partnerships and prepare graduates for the fast-evolving demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The announcement was made on Monday during a press briefing in Abuja ahead of the institution’s 2025 convocation ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dilli Dogo, described the Business School as a major milestone in the university’s transformation agenda.

According to him, the new school would “define the university at a time when the institution is taking another giant leap into the future,” noting that the initiative aligns with global trends that prioritise practical competencies, innovation and industry-ready expertise.

Prof. Dogo disclosed that this year’s convocation ceremony would attract distinguished guests, industry leaders and academic partners.

The event will feature the award of degrees, presentation of prizes, a convocation lecture and the conferment of an honorary doctorate on former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Emphasising the urgency of Africa’s educational reform, he stated that the continent “missed the first three industrial revolutions” and must not repeat the same pattern in the fourth.

He said Nile University’s programmes are purposefully designed to deliver world-class training and ensure that graduates are empowered with relevant, verifiable skills.

“The quality of education we provide is second to none,” he said.

This year’s convocation theme, “Redefining education to meet the needs of the 21st-century workforce a shift from paper qualifications to verifiable skills,” reflects the university’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and global workforce expectations.

Prof. Dogo reaffirmed the university’s guiding principle, “Beyond Degrees,” stressing that Nile University aims to produce graduates who are not only academically sound but also practically skilled and globally competitive.

The unveiling of the Business School marks a key step in the institution’s long-term strategy to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship and industry-oriented learning across all disciplines.
