Mr Jollof Apologises After In-Flight Clash, Explains He Acted In Self-Defence

Nigerian comedian, Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has apologised after his confrontation with social media commentator, VeryDarkMan caused a disruption aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight.

In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Mr Jollof addressed the incident, insisting he is not prone to violence and only reacted to what he described as an attack.

He also expressed regrets to passengers whose travel plans were affected, as well as to aviation authorities.

He said he had no intention of causing distress, adding that he recognised the wider impact of the altercation. “I want to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and the passengers. I was only defending myself. You guys saw what happened. I am very sorry if I delayed your appointment,” he said.

The comedian added an emotional note to his family, promising the incident would not be repeated.

“To my lovely wife, I know you are proud of me. And to my kids, I’m sorry, daddy will never do this again.”

The confrontation, which occurred on Monday, has drawn official attention, with indications that both men may face prosecution following preliminary reports submitted to the authorities.

Mr Jollof maintained that the clash was triggered by an attack on him, reiterating that his reaction was purely defensive.
