Cloudflare error Causes Web Outage in X, Facebook, other sites

A widespread web outage disrupted major online platforms, including X (formerly Twitter) and several other high-traffic websites, on Monday, November 18, 2025, after a technical error at internet infrastructure giant Cloudflare.

The incident lasted over an hour, leaving millions of users worldwide unable to access affected services.

Cloudflare, which provides content delivery, security, and network services for a large portion of the internet, said the outage was caused by an internal network configuration change that inadvertently affected 19 of its data centers.

The company clarified that the disruption was not the result of a cyberattack but an operational error, and it apologized for the inconvenience to users and clients.

The outage had a ripple effect across the web, impacting major platforms that rely on Cloudflare’s services, including X, social media sites, news portals, and business websites. Users reported difficulties in loading websites, sending messages, and accessing online services.

According to reports, the issue lasted roughly one hour and fifteen minutes before Cloudflare fully restored services.

Cloudflare’s post-mortem emphasized that the company is taking steps to prevent such incidents in the future.

“We deeply regret the disruption caused to our customers and the broader internet community and are implementing additional safeguards to ensure this cannot happen again,” the company said.

Experts say the outage highlights the vulnerability of the internet’s centralized infrastructure. When a single major provider like Cloudflare experiences a technical glitch, the impact can be felt globally, disrupting millions of users and businesses that depend on online services.

As of Monday afternoon, Cloudflare reported that services were fully restored, and no lasting data loss or security breaches were reported.

Users are advised to report any residual access issues to the respective platforms or Cloudflare support.
