The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has condemned a physical altercation between social media personalities VeryDarkMan (VDM) and Mr Jollof aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight, warning that both men will face the full weight of the law
The incident occurred during boarding at Asaba International Airport, when the two men reportedly got into a scuffle inside the cabin.
Videos circulating online showed the duo grappling while other passengers and crew intervened to de-escalate the situation
VDM later claimed that the altercation started after he confronted Mr Jollof, saying, “I don chop Jollof father for inside the plane … He bite me
Reacting to the brawl, Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, described the behavior as “unacceptable” and “unlawful.” He added that the authority has directed officers in Asaba to investigate the incident, including the actions of the crew and airport security, as well as the circumstances leading to the confrontation
While the NCAA does not prosecute offenders directly, it can recommend sanctions, including blacklisting the individuals from air travel, and has said it would notify the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police for possible prosecution
United Nigeria Airlines confirmed the incident, saying their crew acted swiftly to deboard both men and hand them over to airport security.
The airline noted that the flight later departed safely after the altercation was contained
The NCAA emphasized that the brawl not only endangered the two men but also other passengers, crew members, and the aircraft. The authority warned that such behavior will not be tolerated and urged all passengers, particularly public figures and influencers, to act responsibly.
