Spyro Blames Loss of Moral Music for Rising Decadence in Society

Nigerian singer, Spyro has raised concerns over what he describes as the decline of “music with morals,” warning that the shift toward entertainment-focused content is fueling moral decay in society.

In an interview on Adesope Live, Spyro lamented that contemporary music often prioritizes commercial success over meaningful messages.

He noted that older songs, regardless of genre, carried lessons and values that inspired listeners, but today, many artists focus mainly on beats and trends rather than substance.

According to him, this shift has contributed to the erosion of social and moral values among the youth.

Spyro emphasized his commitment to producing “clean music,” saying he refuses to create explicit or provocative content.

While he identifies as a Christian, he clarified that his music is not strictly gospel, but it consistently reflects positive values.

He called on younger artists to uphold integrity in their craft and avoid compromising their morals for commercial gain.

The singer also shared that he personally struggled with pornography addiction in the past, highlighting that while he is not perfect, he believes artists have a responsibility to influence society positively through their work.

He encouraged his peers in the music industry to embrace messages that inspire, educate, and uplift, rather than purely entertain.

Spyro’s remarks come amid broader debates in Nigeria’s entertainment industry over the impact of music on societal behavior, especially among young people.

By advocating for music that balances artistry, entertainment, and moral guidance, he hopes to rekindle a culture of purposeful creativity in the country’s music scene.
