Kano Gov Pledges Commitment to Transparency, Accountability
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, openness, and accountability in governance, assuring residents that the government will continue to engage the public through clear and timely communication.
The governor made the pledge on Sunday at the opening of the 2025 Retreat of the Kano Correspondents’ Chapel, held in Kaduna.
He was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim.
Governor Yusuf noted that effective communication and media engagement remain central to his administration’s development agenda, stressing that the government will continue to operate an open-door policy to ensure that citizens have full access to accurate information.
“Let me remind you again that the present administration, under my leadership, remains committed to transparency, openness, and accountability,” he said.
He added that the partnership between the government and the media is crucial not only for informing the public but also for strengthening democratic values and building trust between leaders and citizens.
Yusuf encouraged journalists to uphold the principles of fairness, accuracy, and professionalism in their reporting, assuring them that his administration would not hinder access to information or critical assessment of government activities.
He further highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts in infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment, noting that transparent communication ensures residents understand and benefit from government initiatives.
The Correspondents’ Chapel retreat, attended by journalists across various media houses, focused on improving reportage, enhancing media-government relations, and addressing challenges facing journalists in the line of duty.
