India Arrests Accomplice of Delhi Car ‘Suicide Bomber’
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a man suspected of aiding the alleged suicide bomber involved in the deadly car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on 10 November 2025.
The arrested suspect, identified as Amir Rashid Ali, is accused of helping Umar Un Nabi, the man believed to have detonated the car, in procuring the vehicle used in the attack.
The white Hyundai i20 used in the blast was registered in Ali’s name. Ali was arrested on 16 November 2025.
Investigators confirmed that Umar Un Nabi, from Pulwama district in Kashmir, was the driver of the vehicle and may have carried out the attack intentionally. Nabi, a former assistant professor at a medical college in Faridabad, has been linked to a network of professionals allegedly involved in terror activities.
The NIA stated that Ali traveled to Delhi to assist in purchasing the car, which was later rigged as an improvised explosive device (IED). Authorities have also seized another vehicle belonging to Nabi for forensic analysis.
The probe has involved interviews with more than 70 witnesses, including survivors of the blast. Officials suspect the attack may be part of a broader “white-collar” terror module, involving educated professionals, and possibly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), a Pakistan-based militant group.
Some of Nabi’s handlers are believed to be operating from Turkey and Afghanistan.
While initial reports described the blast as a suicide attack, some forensic experts have indicated that the explosion may have been accidental, citing the device’s limited destructive power and lack of shrapnel.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, coordinating efforts between the NIA, Delhi Police, and Jammu & Kashmir Police, as they probe potential transnational connections and the broader network behind the attack.
