Governor Kefas Orders Immediate Payment of Outstanding Pensions, Gratuities in Taraba

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has signed an executive order directing the immediate commencement and completion of all outstanding pension and gratuity payments owed to verified retirees across the state. The directive was issued on Sunday.

According to a statement from the Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda, this action underscores the governor’s deep commitment to ensuring the welfare and dignity of senior citizens who dedicated their careers to public service.

Governor Kefas emphasized the moral imperative of honoring retirees: “Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty.”

To ensure the prompt and thorough implementation of the order, new measures have been put in place:

* Special Outreach Team: A team will be dispatched to all local government councils, wards, and villages to identify and document retirees who are alive but incapacitated.

This is to ensure that vulnerable retirees receive their entitlements without facing difficulty.

* Weekly Compliance Reports: The Ministry of Finance has been mandated to submit weekly compliance reports directly to the Governor’s Office, with a strict warning that administrative delays will not be tolerated.

The Taraba State government assured pensioners that the payment process is being handled with urgency and urged them to remain calm as the implementation begins.
