DSS Arrests Alleged Major Arms Supplier in Plateau After Intelligence-Led Operation

The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken into custody a suspected top-level arms manufacturer and supplier, Musa Abubakar, believed to have provided weapons to violent groups operating in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.

Abubakar was arrested on November 12, 2025, following what officials described as precise and actionable intelligence.

DSS operatives reportedly traced his activities to an illegal weapons-production site in the Mista Ali community of Bassa Local Government Area, where a coordinated raid was executed.

In a statement, the DSS disclosed that the suspect admitted to producing and distributing sophisticated firearms and ammunition used by criminal networks responsible for several deadly attacks in the region.

He was allegedly caught in possession of a range of items, including components for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), chemicals, and other equipment used for weapon fabrication.

All recovered materials have been seized and are now in the custody of the DSS.

The development comes only days after the security agency rearrested Abdulazeez Obadaki, popularly known as Bomboy, an escapee from Kuje Prison and the alleged mastermind behind attacks on worship centres in Owo and at the Deeper Life Church.

Security analysts say these breakthroughs highlight the DSS’s intensified efforts to dismantle terror cells and curb the circulation of illegal arms across the country.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national security and ensuring that individuals involved in terrorism and organised violence are brought to justice.
