APC Has Failed Me, Laments Ayade, Hints at Next Political Move

Former Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, has expressed frustration with the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the party has not treated him fairly despite his loyalty and political sacrifices.

Ayade, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in 2021, said his decision to align Cross River State with the ruling party was calculated, aimed at ensuring the state remained politically relevant at the national level.

He lamented that his efforts have not been properly recognized and that he continues to “carry the scars” of his political gamble.

Speaking to journalists, Ayade stated that while he has remained committed to the party, he feels that the APC has not reciprocated his loyalty.

He expressed hope that President Bola Tinubu, aware of his contributions, would eventually acknowledge the role he played in strengthening the party in the South-South region.

In response, some APC stalwarts in Cross River have pushed back against Ayade’s claims. They argued that the party already had a presence in the state before his defection and accused him of rewarding only his personal loyalists.

They described his grievances as self-inflicted and stressed that his narrative does not reflect the contributions of other party members.

While Ayade did not explicitly announce a defection or a new political alignment, he hinted that he expects recognition and a more influential role within the APC.

Observers suggest that his statements could be a prelude to strategic moves that may shape both his political future and the party’s dynamics in the South-South region ahead of upcoming elections.

Ayade’s remarks have reignited discussions about internal party management, loyalty, and political rewards, highlighting potential fault lines within the APC in Cross River State.

His next steps are expected to attract close attention from both political analysts and party members.
