Northern Political Support for President Tinubu Growing Stronger Ahead of 2027, Says APC Chieftain
A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Dr. Musa Illyasu Kwankwaso, has asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is gaining increasing political backing across northern Nigeria as the 2027 presidential election approaches.
Speaking with journalists in Kano, Kwankwaso noted that recent political developments indicate a rising wave of support for the president, suggesting that the North is gradually consolidating behind Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
According to him, the president’s acceptance is becoming visible across diverse political circles, with signs of renewed confidence in his leadership emerging in several northern states.
Kwankwaso referenced the overwhelming crowd that received the Minister of Defence and former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, during his recent visit to the state.
He described the massive turnout as a strong reflection of the public’s readiness to stand with Tinubu again in 2027.
He urged northern political leaders to take a cue from Matawalle, whom he praised for maintaining close ties with his constituents both during and after his time as governor.
This grassroots connection, he said, has significantly bolstered the Tinubu administration’s popularity in Zamfara.
Kwankwaso claimed that more than three million people reportedly trooped out to welcome Matawalle, many of whom expressed their voluntary support for the president’s re-election bid.
He called on northern appointees and stakeholders to intensify community engagement and enlighten residents on the achievements of the Tinubu government. He stressed that the Renewed Hope Agenda is driving meaningful development and reshaping access to democratic benefits nationwide.
Kwankwaso added that sustained grassroots mobilisation is essential to ensuring that citizens fully understand the administration’s reforms and the impact they are intended to create.
