Jonathan to Chair Launch of Former Governor Obong Victor Attah’s Biography
Former President Goodluck Jonathan is set to chair the launch of the biography of former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah, next Thursday in Abuja, coinciding with Attah’s 87th birthday.
Udeme Nana, a member of the planning committee and former media adviser to Attah, announced the event at a news briefing in Uyo on Friday.
He said President Bola Tinubu would attend as special guest of honour, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio will serve as guest of honour. Governor Umo Eno is slated to act as chief host.
“The chairman of that occasion will be no less a personality than former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” Nana said. “The sitting President, who was incidentally one of Obong Victor Attah’s colleagues, will be the special guest of honour. The Senate President has also been invited, while the sitting governor, Umo Eno, is the chief host.”
Nana described Attah as a visionary leader and one of “the best presidents Nigeria never had.” He added, “Since the advent of democracy in 1999, I have said that if Obong Attah had become the President of Nigeria, he would have turned the fortunes of this country around sustainably. Obong Attah is a consummate patriot, a deep thinker, very knowledgeable, creative, cerebral, versatile, and hardworking.”
Obong Victor Attah governed Akwa Ibom State from 1999 to 2007, after winning re-election in 2003. A trained architect, he studied at Leeds College of Art, Liverpool University, and Columbia University, and served as the national president of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
During his tenure, Attah’s administration implemented major infrastructure and urban planning projects, including roads, public buildings, and educational institutions.
In recognition of his contributions, Uyo’s international airport bears his name.
