Minister, Piers Morgan Clash Over Calls for Unedited Broadcast of Nigeria Interview

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and British broadcaster Piers Morgan clashed publicly on Thursday after the minister demanded that his recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored be aired in full without edits.

Tuggar, who featured on the programme to address global claims of religious persecution in Nigeria, posted on X that only an unedited broadcast would ensure “integrity and transparency.” He warned that selective editing risked distorting Nigeria’s image and reinforcing “misleading narratives.”

In his post, the minister said he provided “a factual and contextual perspective” backed by verified data, even if his explanations did not align with “certain preconceived views” about the country.

“For the sake of integrity and transparency, it is essential that the full interview be aired exactly as recorded, without edits or selective omissions. Nigeria’s truth must not be distorted to fit external biases,” Tuggar wrote.

Morgan responded sharply, dismissing any suggestion that the programme censored its guests. Quoting the minister’s post, he said,

“You seem to be panicking, Foreign Minister. Rest assured, we will air your comments in full, the show is called Uncensored for a reason. Whether people believe what you said remains to be seen.”

Tuggar fired back hours later, saying he was “as cool as a cucumber,” before taking a swipe at Morgan’s preparation for the interview.

“Just want to make sure you don’t edit out the parts where you kept referring to the ‘Chibok Boys’! Well researched,” he wrote.

As of Thursday night, the full version of the interview had not been uploaded on Piers Morgan Uncensored’s official platforms.
