Adamawa Governor’s Chief Adviser, Joel Madaki, Dumps PDP for APC

A major political upset has hit Adamawa State as Joel H. Madaki, the Chief Adviser to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Madaki’s defection, announced on Wednesday, has been described by political observers as a significant blow to the PDP’s structure in Adamawa.

The former PDP state chairman was a key figure in the party’s early formation and a long-time ally of Governor Fintiri.

Speaking during the formal declaration, APC stakeholders in the state hailed Madaki’s move as a “major boost” to the party’s strength and a sign of dwindling confidence in the PDP’s leadership.

They noted that his decision signals “the beginning of the end” for the ruling party in Adamawa.

Madaki’s defection follows weeks of speculation about internal disagreements within the PDP at the state level.

His exit is expected to reshape the political balance ahead of future elections as the APC continues to consolidate its influence in the North-East.

Political analysts say Madaki’s defection may trigger a wave of cross-party movements in the state, especially among PDP loyalists disenchanted with the current administration.

With this latest development, the APC appears to be positioning itself to reclaim Adamawa from the PDP in upcoming political contests.
