Governor Alia Hails Tiv Supreme Council for Endorsing His Second-Term Bid
Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has expressed deep appreciation to the Supreme Council of the Tiv Nation, led by the Tor Tiv V, Prof. James Ayatse, for formally endorsing him for a second term in office.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Tersoo Kula, the governor described the council’s endorsement as “a historic and inspiring gesture” that reflects the confidence of the Tiv people in his leadership and the ongoing transformation of the state under his administration.
“This pronouncement from the apex traditional authority of the Tiv Nation is humbling and profoundly motivating,” Governor Alia stated. “It represents a resounding vote of confidence in my leadership, integrity, and the developmental strides already taking shape across Benue State.”
He commended the Ijir Tamen I Tiv for recognizing his administration’s achievements in restoring peace, driving infrastructure development, and promoting prosperity across the state.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his commitment to his “covenant with the people” — to rebuild, renew, and restore Benue through governance anchored on transparency, fairness, and compassion.
“This endorsement by the Tiv Supreme Council underscores the unity and foresight of our traditional leadership,” he said. “It also demonstrates the collective will of the Tiv people — and indeed all Benue citizens — to sustain the progress we have made and to ensure the continuity of good governance.”
The governor assured the Tor Tiv and the entire Tiv traditional council that the endorsement would further strengthen his resolve to serve the people with “greater zeal, humility, and accountability.”
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, ensuring fairness and sustainable development across all communities in the state.
Governor Alia extended heartfelt gratitude to the Ijir Tamen I Tiv, the five ruling houses of Kwande, Jemgbagh, Lobi, Jechira, and Gwer, and the entire Tiv Nation for their show of trust and solidarity.
“Together, under the guidance of Almighty God,” he said, “we will continue to build Benue into a land of peace, unity, progress, and shared prosperity.”
