Tinubu’s Aides Deceiving Him, Damaging His Image – Ndume
A former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has accused some aides and associates of President Bola Tinubu of deceiving him on key national issues and damaging his public image.
Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, made the allegation on Sunday while speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
He claimed that the President’s government has been hijacked by individuals he described as “kleptocrats” and “kakistocrats,” alleging that many of those surrounding the President are driven by selfish interests and lack competence.
According to him, these individuals have formed a cabal that shields the President from the true realities facing Nigerians, making it difficult for him to take the right decisions.
“The President is being misled by those around him. Many of them are kleptocrats people only interested in stealing and kakistocrats, meaning the worst kind of people running the government.
These are not the people who should be advising him,” Ndume said.
The lawmaker lamented that the administration’s communication strategy has worsened the President’s image rather than improving it.
He said the growing hardship in the country and the government’s slow response to critical issues have created frustration among citizens, which, in his view, is being poorly managed by Tinubu’s handlers.
“Some of those close to him don’t tell him the truth. Instead, they paint a rosy picture of what is happening in the country, while Nigerians are suffering.
The President needs to hear directly from the people and act fast to correct these errors,” Ndume added.
The senator urged President Tinubu to “open his doors” and listen to genuine voices who have the interest of the country at heart, rather than depending solely on a few individuals with questionable motives.
Ndume, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has been one of the most vocal lawmakers in recent times, frequently cautioning the government against policies he says could deepen economic hardship and alienate the masses from the ruling party.
